Connecting people with their community

Tuesday, 7 December 2010

ConnectGV connect people with their local community.  Options are diverse and are developed with the individual to meet individual goals and to support them to achieve their dreams.  At the beginning of the year service user, Sharmaine asked to learn Tai Chi.  To ensure she was able to reach her goals, Sharmaine's support plan staff looked for options within the local community and identified a Tai Chi group at a local community house and the rest, as they say is history!  The group consisting of four other ladies meet weekly and are called the ‘Lotus Flowers'.  Sharmaine has now been enjoying the benefits of Tia Chi for the past twelve months and with the group, recently put on a performance at a local aged care facility.  Sharmaine enjoys being an active member of our local community; she is also employed at Flower Power and GV Ragz, learns computers and cooking, regularly goes bowling and volunteers at Meals on Wheels.
