Darren heads to the Rifle Shooting World Championships
Thursday, 14 April 2011
Billabong Garden Complex supported employee Darren Nicholson is heading to Turkey and Spain this month to compete in the rifle shooting World Championships. If he is successful at this competition he will earn himself a place on the Paralympics team set for London in 2012. Darren is very excited about his forthcoming trip as he has never been overseas before but said "I love a challenge, it's good for you!" Darren lost his right leg after a car accident approximately 10 years ago and has since made many achievements and sought new opportunities and when introduced to rifle shooting by members of the Paralympics committee he hasn't looked back and practice and competition is now a major part of his life.
Darren came to ConnectGV approximately five years ago looking for work and chose to work in the propagation nursery at Billabong. Darren is a valued member of the team at Billabong that propagate a large percentage of the plants that are sold within the retail nursery. ConnectGV is happy to be one of the sponsors for Darren's trip and is extremely proud of his achievements and wish him all the very best at the World Championships and for a place on the Paralympics team.
