During August, the first in a series of art exhibitions will be held at Billabong Garden Complex.  Local award winning photographer Serana Hunt will display works from her exhibition 'On a Short Rein' portraits of Country Racing, as well as works that were recently displayed at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney during the entire month of August.

Serana Hunt began her Photographic Career in 1990 as a freelance photojournalist and photographer. She currently works as course photographer at Thoroughbred and Harness racetracks in Australia. She has privately maintained a passion for contemporary photography and has only recently begun to reveal this area of her work. She was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2010 Doug Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, finalist in the 2011 Olive Cotton Award for Excellence in Photographic Portraiture, three photographs selected in the 2011 International Spider Awards for Black and White Photography, Winner of the 2011 Fitz Photographic Art Award and has recently held an exhibition in Sydney as a part of the International Head On Photo Festival.  Click here for flyer - Serana Hunt photographic exhibition.

A percentage of proceeds from the sale of works will go to the ConnectGV Foundation to assist in building independent living units for local people with a disability. These units will enable local people with a disability to live independently with arrangements that are more appropriate to their individual needs. Residents within these units will still have access to daily outreach support and they will be able to live independently within a community setting that is close to transport, shops and community facilities. Not only will these units be more appropriate to their needs it will also free up accommodation in community residential units for those that do require supported accommodation. Along with the art exhibitions funds will also be raised for the independent living units via the sale of the ConnectGV / JG King Charity House in October and a Gala dinner and Goods & Services auction.

If you are a local artist interested in holding an exhibition at Billabong Garden Complex, or if you would like more information on the fundraiser or making a donation to the ConnectGV Foundation please contact Marketing Manager Kate Smith on 5821 2466 for further details.
