Centre Cuisine and Cooking

Participation in the Centre Cuisine program promotes purchasing skills, table manners, cooking skills, money handling skills, healthy eating, time management and an opportunity to experience different flavours and textures.

Centre Cuisine is also an excellent opportunity for participants to venture out into their local community.

Participants are encouraged to search for different recipes, discuss them with staff - and there is not a lot around they won't try!  Cuisine from around the world is also made and sampled with a recent favourite being Indian.

Through the development of Centre Cuisine, other service users and staff take the opportunity to purchase their lunch once per week. Participants involved in this decide what is for lunch and where the shopping will be done.  Money is collected from everyone that would like to purchase their lunch, counted and a shopping list prepared.

Prior to heading back to prepare lunch, participants enjoy their morning tea out and about in the community after purchasing the groceries they require for lunch.
