ConnectGV's annual fundraiser this year, 'Toolamba Around The Gum Tree' was held on March 22, 2019. Mother Nature provided perfect conditions to come together under the beautiful full moon to celebrate community. We are forever in awe of our generous community, it was more than 65 years ago that a group of local parents and service clubs got together to address the need for a service and they began fundraising; our service today is a legacy of the vision of this wonderful group of community minded people. They were the trail blazers!
Whilst ConnectGV has grown, evolved and changed over the years to meet individual needs, the support from our community has continued to be unwavering. In the 50's it became apparent very early on that to get the job done, the sourcing of funding needed to be not just directed at the obvious go to government departments, but rather the shakers and movers, our local people, who were willing and ready to go if made aware of any burning causes. This remains the same today. It has been through our own fundraising efforts and the support of community which has enabled ConnectGV to provide options for people with a disability and strive for our vision of a fully inclusive community. ConnectGV's fundraiser was no exception, not only did the event sell out, attendees dug deep and contributed to the donation box to assist our campaign to build a new state of the art day options facility.
Attendees also thought about other ways in which they can support, with many pledging partnerships with our Social Enterprises and some offering their expertise to volunteer … there are so many ways you can assist and so many acts of kindness that make a difference. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation for our new building or would like to discuss other ways in which you can support ConnectGV we would love to hear from you.
