ConnectGV’s Individual Support program enables participants to maximize opportunities to increase their skills to transition through various stages to reach their goals, in educational, vocational or community and social. While encouraging a high degree of autonomy as they take an active role in planning their futures. Participants learn practical skills that they can use in their community every day.
The Individual Support Program supports a holistic approach for each participant. The program is divided into three development areas:
Proving employment and pre-employment through community connections
ConnectGV operates a number of Social Enterprises, including Billabong Garden Complex, Billabong Sweets & Treats, GV Ragz, Flower Power flower deliveries and ConnectGV Services.
These innovative businesses have been developed to provide quality products and services, based on market demand, to the local community. Through these businesses supported employees have the opportunity to work within their community and earn a wage. Working conditions are based on an Award and wages are determined by assessment of productivity against an award rate. Employees are supported to develop skills enabling them to work across the various businesses, should they wish to do so, or to enable them to seek mainstream employment. ConnectGV has also established community partnerships that provide supported employment options within commercial businesses. ConnectGV staff work with each business to match a person to the position to ensure successful outcomes and provide ongoing support.
A number of modern accommodation units have been built by ConnectGV to provide supported accommodation in each home, and more recently to provide independent living options. Each accommodation option is located within a community setting, close to shops and community facilities enabling increased opportunities and independence whilst also providing the individualised support required. To be eligible to ConnectGV accommodation this must first be identified as a goal in your NDIS plan.
